Description & Details


  • Design and stake distribution line extensions and revisions.
    • Communicate with members developers, contractors, employees, and governing bodies so that all concerns can be met in a timely manner.
    • Obtain ROW permits prior to construction as required.
    • Designs shall meet National Electric Safety Code, RUS requirements, and Cooperative Engineering Guides. 
    • Communicate and prepare Special Charge Agreements for customer estimates and developer agreements consistent with WH’s Schedule of Charges.
    • Prepare accurate staking sheets and records in a detailed manner.
    • Ensure quality control at construction sites to ensure construction as-builts follow design specifications.
    • Utilize surveying, GPS equipment, and associated GIS software for field staking and design.
    • Complete designs for assigned work plan construction projects as directed and organize records and work process flow.  Verify customer wiring certificate, premise and metering readiness before releasing work orders to the crew.
  • Ensure accurate recording of construction in the Mapping System and submit corrections accordingly.
  • Knowledgeable in all Construction Specifications and Drawings in accordance with Cooperative’s standards, material, equipment, procedures, and guides.
  • Coordinates with the Work Order Specialist, IT Staff and others in the Engineering Department to ensure that computer assembly listings are in agreement with the construction specifications.
  • Work with Construction Crews, Contractors, Engineering Staff and others to improve designs and track field changes.
  • Attends Job Training and Safety Meetings and other related Engineering meetings, as assigned.
  • Handles special projects, as assigned.
  • Follows all policies, procedures, directives, rules, and regulations of the Cooperative.
  • Perform/arrange minor maintenance on assigned company vehicle.




  • Assist to ensure that construction practices conform to present National Electric Safety Codes, WH Specification Drawings, WH approved List of Materials, and WH Engineering Guides.
  • Recommends updates to construction standard drawings and computerized material assembly listings.
  • Participates in training for new products, materials, and procedures.





  • Required:
    • High School plus Vo-tech or, 2 Years Electrical Utility Distribution Design Experience or Related Construction Experience
    • Valid Class D driver’s license in the State of MN


  • Preferred:
    • 5 Years of Electric Utility Design Experience
    • Knowledge of RUS requirements
    • Certified Land Surveyor
