Mark your calendar for the third annual Race for Fallen Linemen on August 12th. The races begin at 6:45 p.m. at the Viking Speedway in Alexandria. The Race for Fallen Lineman began in 2015 with the purpose to honor linemen who have died in the line of duty.

Proceeds from the race are donated to the Fallen Linemen Organization (FLO) whose mission is to memorialize fallen electrical lineworkers and care for the families that have lost a loved one or had a severe injury in the line of duty. FLO helps families with post-accident financial and emotional support. Mike Boyd, Executive Director of FLO says, “Many wives continue to work with FLO as advocates; they are a rock for new widows in our industry. They help guide fallen lineworker wives through the grieving process because they know what the experience is like.” The organization hopes to accomplish national recognition for lineworkers. They also want to assure that no fallen or severely injured lineworker is left behind.

Electric Cooperatives and their employees, contractors and vendors have donated to make this race a success for the past two years. To make a tax deductible donation, please make checks payable to Viking Speedway and mail checks before June 30 to:

Corey Svor
7955 Hwy 29
Alexandria, MN 56308

A receipt will be mailed back within approximately two to four weeks after receiving the donation.
