ONLINE: LEADERSHIP TRAINING - MODULE 4: THE LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES OF SUPERVISION

SESSION 1
Transitioning to Supervision
Focus on the various roles you play as a leader and ways to manage the demands of those roles while fulfilling the 4 needs of followers (trust, compassion, stability and hope).

 

OUTCOMES

  • Identify the roles and demands you take on when you become a leader and develop strategies for balancing those demands
  • Identify leadership behaviors that help build trust and credibility
  • Analyze factors that build individual and team motivation and commitment
  • Identify key advocates/mentors in your organization that can help you succeed as a leader and develop a plan for building these relationships

SESSION 2
Effective Delegation through Clear Expectations
Use a Strengths Based Coaching model to establish clear expectations when assigning and delegating work and then follow-up with continual coaching conversations that help create accountability.

 

OUTCOMES

  • Analyze the impact and reasoning of taking on too many responsibilities as a leader rather than delegating
  • Define the components of strengths-based coaching, including understanding your team well enough to trust them
  • Practice writing and communicating clear, collaborative and aligned expectations for performance on assigned responsibilities
  • Develop strategy for follow-up conversations to check on progress and create accountability

SESSION 3
Creating Accountability
Use a Strengths Based Coaching model to plan and practice conversations that create accountability to performance expectations.

 

OUTCOMES

  • Identify how creating accountability fits into Strengths Based Coaching
  • Plan and practice verbal conversations and written feedback aimed at holding employees accountable for delivering on performance goals through achievement-oriented, fair and accurate, and development feedback
  • Build action plans that establish clear expectations for performance improvement

SESSION 4
Leading for the Future – Strategic Planning, Innovation and Effective Meetings
Use proven processes and tools to help lead your organization into the future by building a culture of innovation, facilitating effective meetings and actively participating in the strategic planning process.

 

OUTCOMES

  • Examine key elements of a strategic plan using common strategic planning frameworks and tools
  • Identify the needs of stakeholders in building a strategic plan
  • Apply key elements of innovation to help your team and organization meet the needs evolving needs of stakeholders
  • Use effective communication and facilitation techniques to make meetings productive and efficient

PRESENTATION & MATERIALS 

Class size is limited to 20 people to provide maximum opportunity for participants to benefit from the instructor-led multimedia activities. Each participant receives an email that includes the Webex log in details and an attachment with materials needed for class.
