Warehouse Attendant, Coal Creek Station - Underwood, ND

General Summary: Support and assist Great River Energy’s (GRE) Coal Creek and Spiritwood Stations. The successful candidate will receive and issue inventory including consumable materials, inventory spare parts, conduct material handling and freight inspections.

 

 

Responsibilities include:

 

Receive and ship inventory and non-inventory materials to support Coal Creek Station and Spiritwood Station (O&M) activities.

  • Operate forklift to unload and store materials
  • Inspect all freight for obvious container damage prior to signing for delivery
  • Complete PO receiving in Lawson application
  • Print and install SDS labels
  • Contact requisitioner when receiving expedite and non-expedite material
  • Complete required paperwork for detailed documentation
  • File original “Blanket Release” purchase documents
  • Place original freight bill in basket for filing
  • Prepare material for shipping
  • Assign non-stock numbers for material to be stored

Issue and/or dispense inventory and consumable materials from warehouse to support Coal Creek Station and Spiritwood Station O&M activities.

  • Locate and retrieve stored material as requested
  • Enter inventory issue in Lawson and verify item number, description and WO number
  • Validate issue slips each day and file issue slips
  • Restock warehouse maintained bench stocks weekly
  • Tool room support
    • Update tool room log weekly
    • Complete tool room tool inspection preventive maintenance (PM)

Tag broken tool with problem and place on shelf for repair

  • Notify waste disposal vendors to pick up bins when full
  • Drives GRE vehicles to other sites
  • Transports GRE inventory, parts, tools and equipment to other sites

Perform warehouse outside responsibilities to support Coal Creek Station and Spiritwood Station O&M activites.

  • Store and retrieve materials from various remote buildings or lay down areas
  • Housekeeping:
    • Clean warehouse areas as needed
    • Clean and organize pole barns as needed
  • Maintain forklifts
    • Fuel and clean all terrain forklift weekly
    • Check battery water level and charge inside electric forklift
  • Perform environmental PM checks on the hazardous waste materials storage weekly and oil drum storage monthly.
  • Perform other duties to maintain accurate and efficient operations:
    • Inventory cycle counts
    • Maintain overtime meal inventory
    • Fuel and clean warehouse pickup as needed
    • Maintain waste battery containers and prepare batteries for disposal per environmental policy
    • Support and assist warehouse operations at all North Dakota generation locations, as determined by business and personnel needs
    • Assist with training and provide work direction of apprentice personnel, temporary

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of two years warehousing experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Required to complete the GRE Warehouse Attendant Apprenticeship within 24 months of hire date.  Must have a valid drivers’ license.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of materials management tools, materials handling equipment and storage equipment.
  • Basic PC skills and have the ability to use Microsoft Office, Lawson and Maximo.
  • Skills to use hand and power tools such as table saw, metal chop saw, electric drill and operate forklifts.
  • Knowledge of ND Generation warehouse procedures and document location on computer
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to independently plan, organize, prioritize time and workload to accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to self motivate while working independently and/or as part of a team.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with inventory policies and procedures.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships, both internal and external, and establish credibility with those they work with.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business circumstances; must be able to thrive in a constantly changing business environment.

Working Conditions:  

Work is conducted in the warehouse, loading and unloading areas, pole barns and other remote locations throughout the plant site. May be expected to walk and stand for long periods. May be expected to climb ladders and to be able to handle frequent lifting of objects up to 50lbs. Conditions may be dusty, dirty, wet, electrical hazards, noisy, extreme temperatures, and exposure to chemicals and hazardous materials. Warehouse attendant is expected to work holidays, weekends and nights on occasion and report to the plant whenever needed during non-scheduled working periods. Field trips will be required for inspection and data acquisition. May be required to attend seminars, conferences and meetings. Must wear personal protective equipment. Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job. Must be able to travel to other generation plant sites.
