Dakota Electric Association (DEA), a member-owned, nonprofit electric utility serving over 107,000 members just south of the Twin Cities, is seeking the ideal individual to assist our team of Distribution System Operators (DSO).

 

The Distribution System Operator (DSO) Trainer works to develop, maintain, and administer the necessary training and training materials to the Control Center staff. The DSO Trainer is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing the training for DSOs and DSO Trainees so they are qualified and proficient at their position responsibilities.

 

This person will provide training and education on  system operating procedures (SOPs), line switching standards and procedures, outage restoration, system monitoring, and troubleshooting; as well as software applications that include but are not limited to: Outage Management System (OMS), Geographical Information System (GIS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Interactive Voice Response (IVR), Load Management (LM), Work Management (WM), Meter Data Management (MDM), Advanced Metering Manager (AMM),  and Crew Call Out (CCO)

 

The DSO Trainer will also provide facility training on integrated distribution and transmission systems such as substation equipment, line equipment, and distributed energy resources (DER).

 

This position requires a high school diploma or GED certificate. A minimum of two years of electric utility experience is required, preferably in an operational environment. Bachelors or Associates Degree with technical coursework or experience related to electrical technology, project management, technical leadership, technical writing or technical training is strongly preferred. Strong human relations and computer skills are required, along with knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office software applications. A qualified DSO Trainer must be proficient in the use of the software applications routinely used in a distribution control center environment such as SCADA, OMS, GIS, WM, IVR, MDM, AMM, CCO, etc.
