GENERAL SUMMARY

Coordinates a variety of event management and administrative tasks to support and carry out important operational activities related to association events and services. Job responsibilities include organizing, communicating and executing MREA events; providing executive level administrative support to designated MREA departments; serving MREA members with exceptional customer service; and managing event & ticket set-up and support within the association database.

Contributes and implements new ideas to improve and produce reliable and efficient operational processes, prioritizes and manages multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and independently while following through on issues in a timely manner. Promotes MREA culture by actively participating in association events and activities, including meetings and projects, and collaborating with other staff to provide back-up and bandwidth support, for special projects or other events as needed.

 

JOB CRITERIA

Education and Experience

Knowledge is typically acquired through a high school education or GED and 3 years of experience in event coordination, executive assistance and/or customer service. Completion of a higher education degree or certificate is desired.

Job Knowledge

Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, graphics, and scheduling computer applications.  Knowledge of office operations and procedures. Knowledge of programmable telephone systems, audio visual equipment, and the internet. Knowledge of meeting and event planning.

 

Skills and Abilities

Ability to work in a team environment by effectively participating, cooperating and communicating with others. Must be able to operate a personal computer and related software and databases. Must type 60 w.p.m. and possess writing, editing and proofreading skills. Must possess the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Ability to demonstrate accuracy and monitor own work to ensure quality. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to prioritize and plan work activities and utilize time efficiently. Must be able to manage competing demands and deal with frequent change, delays and unexpected events. Dependability including being consistently at work and on time, following instructions, responding to direction and soliciting feedback to improve performance. Must have the ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion. Must be able to administer operating rules and procedures under general management guidance.

 

Physical/Mental Demands

Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds on an occasional basis.

 

Environmental/Working Conditions

Normal office conditions. Limited travel to coordinate meetings.
