MREA Safety and Loss Control Specialist Andrew Sjolie visited PKM Electric Cooperative on Thursday, February 8 to conduct MREA HOT lab training. PKM's line crew practiced working on overhead lines that day and, fortunately, they were indoors. It was a perfect day for the HOT (hands on training) lab training due to the sub-zero degree temperatures Warren had the whole week.

The new HOT lab, used during MREA’s safety instruction, is geared to focus on basics in 2018.   With the “lab” concept – lineworkers will learn the material and then practice; they’ll review the OSHA rules and then practice the skill using this lab.  The labs will take place in the co-op warehouse at a height comfortable for learning.  As MREA trains, we remind employees to “Think Safety – Act Safely” and reinforce the basic safety skills of line work.
